PhyQuest
Teams comprising a maximum of 3 members will compete in a thrilling quiz based on the Wonders of Physics. The prelims will be a pen and paper based MCQ test, testing basic physics problem-solving skills. Thereafter, the top 6 teams will proceed to the finals. The finals will consist of 4 interactive rounds dealing with different aspects of the physical world and especially Light. If quizzing is your forte, this event is yours!
Luminous
If clicking snaps is your favourite pastime, ‘Luminous’ could be your best bet. To participate, simply send us your original photograph with a caption and a write up explaining how you clicked the photo. The theme of the contest is ‘Playing with Light’.
Prakash
Teams of a maximum of three will be assigned in advance, interesting topics related to optics and photonics. Slide presentations will be a maximum seven minutes’ duration and an eminent panel of scientists will judge the event. If you have a flare for research, we welcome you to join us!
Spectrum
Teams consisting of a maximum of two members will be asked to prepare a poster on any topic of their choice falling under the banner of Light and Light based technologies. The teams will be allotted separate boards to put up their posters, which may be either handmade or digital. A one-hour poster session will be held where the judges and the general audience will view the posters and interact with the students. If the world of light has always intrigued you, come and showcase your poster making skills!
Hues
This event is for all the art enthusiasts out there. Draw to your heart’s content in this theme based battle for the best artist! Send us your creation (either digital or handmade). The topic is ‘When light meets the darkness’.
Neuerung
Our chapter members have continuously striven to prepare innovative models related to optics. These unique and useful models based on light will be put on display on the event days. Examples of models to be exhibited: 3D hologram, Lissajous figure generator, LED array using Arduino and a solar water purifier.
